Canada’s First TV Station

Owned jointly by the radio station CKAC and La Presse, Canada’s first television station, VE9EC, starts broadcasting in Montreal. Using a mechanical system, the broadcast was witnessed by over 100,000 people who lined up to view images (in black and red) at Ogilvie Department Store on Ste. Catherine Street.
